Salesforce Developer – Role Overview
As a Salesforce Developer at DOHMH, you will work closely with business stakeholders, analysts, and IT teams to build, customize, and optimize Salesforce solutions. Your work will directly support critical public health initiatives, ensuring New York City’s systems run efficiently and effectively.
This position requires 6+ years of total experience, including 1 to 2 years of Salesforce development and a strong foundation in .NET technologies. Preference will be given to candidates who have previously worked with NY State or other public sector clients.
Salesforce Developer – Key Responsibilities
1. Design and Development

Build custom Salesforce solutions tailored to DOHMH’s unique operational needs.

Create workflows, Apex classes, Visualforce pages, Lightning components, and more.
2. Requirements Gathering and Translation

Collaborate with stakeholders and business analysts to understand functional needs.

Translate business requirements into clean, scalable, and maintainable code.
3. Salesforce Configuration and Customization

Customize Salesforce by creating objects, fields, validation rules, and automation tools.

Maintain and enhance existing Salesforce components based on feedback.
4. Integration and Middleware

Develop and maintain secure and robust integrations between Salesforce and external platforms.

Use APIs and middleware tools to ensure seamless data exchange.
5. Issue Resolution and Maintenance

Troubleshoot bugs, user issues, and performance bottlenecks.

Ensure high availability and consistent performance of all Salesforce systems.
6. Documentation and Training

Create documentation including design specs, technical workflows, and user manuals.

Train and support internal teams for effective Salesforce use.

Salesforce Developer – Required Qualifications
Technical Experience

1 to 2 years of Salesforce development with proven project contributions.

4+ years with .NET Framework (3.5 or higher) and IIS 7.5+.

4+ years with T-SQL, including writing advanced queries.

4+ years of SSRS report development.

Experience with C#, MVC, XML, and REST/WebAPI services.
