Overview of the SAP BRIM SOM/CI Functional Consultant SME Role

We are seeking a highly experienced SAP BRIM SOM/CI Functional Consultant SME to support a large-scale enterprise billing and revenue management transformation. This role focuses on architecting, configuring, and optimizing SAP BRIM solutions within SAP S/4HANA environments that support high-volume and usage-based billing models.

This position is mostly remote with a hybrid requirement. Only candidates located within 1.5 hours of Middletown PA will be considered. While day-to-day work is remote, phone or Skype interviews will be conducted and occasional in-person sessions may be required in Middletown PA.

This opportunity is best suited for senior-level SAP BRIM professionals who can operate as subject matter experts, lead functional design discussions, guide cross-functional teams, and ensure enterprise-grade compliance and scalability.

Key Responsibilities of the SAP BRIM SOM/CI Functional Consultant SME

SAP BRIM Architecture and Functional Leadership

Architect, design, implement, and test enhancements across SAP BRIM and related SAP technologies within SAP S/4HANA
Lead functional ownership of Subscription Order Management and Convergent Invoicing modules
Support integration with Sales and Distribution, Materials Management, and Convergent Charging
Provide expert guidance on consumption-based billing and revenue management models

Business Engagement and Requirements Management

Lead functional workshops with business stakeholders to gather and validate requirements
Ensure business processes, features, and user stories are accurately captured and approved
Translate complex business requirements into scalable SAP BRIM functional solutions
Act as a trusted advisor to business teams throughout the implementation lifecycle

End-to-End Solution Design and Integration

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate SAP BRIM with Microsoft Dynamics CRM, SAP ERP, and payment gateways
Participate in data model design to minimize data replication and maintain data integrity
Support event-driven and API-based integrations where applicable
Recommend optimal usage of SAP FIORI to enhance usability for finance and accounting users

Compliance, Security, and Payment Processing

Ensure all SAP BRIM solutions are designed to meet PCI DSS and SOC1 or SOC2 compliance standards
Design secure payment flows with tokenization and gateway integrations
Work closely with payment vendors to support real-time payment processing
Ensure customer dispute handling for migrated transactions is seamless and efficient

Configuration, Documentation, and Testing

Configure SAP BRIM modules to support subscription management, billing, invoicing, and revenue accounting requirements
Document functional designs and process flows aligned with SAP best practices
Write functional specifications and review technical specifications with development teams
Create detailed functional test cases and execute functional testing
Review SIT and UAT test scripts and participate in testing activities
Troubleshoot defects and support resolution efforts

Data Migration, Cutover, and Go-Live Support

Collaborate with data teams to support accurate data migration and cutover strategies
Support high-volume data migrations using delta load techniques to minimize downtime
Participate in go-live readiness reviews and post-go-live stabilization activities
Support training and knowledge transfer activities for business and support teams

Training and Knowledge Enablement

Conduct training sessions for end users and junior consultants on SAP BRIM and S/4HANA
Mentor junior team members and functional analysts
Partner with trainers to develop training materials and user guides
Increase overall business familiarity with SAP BRIM, FI-CA, and S/4HANA capabilities

Governance and Collaboration

Required Skills and Experience for SAP BRIM SOM

7+ years of hands-on SAP BRIM configuration experience in SOM and CI modules
At least 3 years of SAP BRIM experience on SAP S/4HANA hosted in a commercial cloud
Experience delivering at least 2 full-cycle SAP S/4HANA BRIM implementations
Experience working with non-SAP CRM platforms handling real-time payments
Strong expertise in PCI DSS compliance, tokenization, and secure payment flow design
Hands-on experience integrating with payment gateways for tokenization and processing
Familiarity with mediation systems for usage capture and rating
Experience in utility, transportation, or usage-based subscription billing models
Working knowledge of Hybrid Agile implementation methodologies
Experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps or JIRA
Knowledge of SAP BTP including event-driven architecture and API management
Experience with ServiceNow for post-go-live support is highly desirable

Education and Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in information systems, business, or a related field
SAP S/4HANA BRIM certifications such as BR235, BR240, BR245, or BR416 are highly desirable
