Tech Scrum Lead / Project Manager Job in Hartford CT – Hybrid Contract Leading GCP Data Migration

About the Role: Tech Scrum Lead / Project Manager

We are seeking a Tech Scrum Lead / Project Manager to join our team in Hartford, CT. This is a hybrid role for local candidates and offers a 6+ month contract with likely extensions.

This is not a traditional Scrum Master role. We are looking for someone who can lead Agile delivery while staying deeply engaged in technical discussions across cloud migration, data engineering, and application modernization. You will drive execution, ensure engineering discipline, and manage delivery of a large-scale data migration from Teradata or Azure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead Delivery: Own end-to-end delivery across Agile teams focused on GCP-based applications and data pipelines.

  • Data Migration: Drive complex migrations from Teradata or Azure to GCP, ensuring quality and scalability.

  • Agile Facilitation: Run Agile ceremonies (standups, planning, retros, reviews) with focus on technical outcomes.

  • Collaboration: Partner with engineers, architects, and product owners to align technical solutions with business needs.

  • Technical Oversight: Engage in architecture, coding practices, and DevOps to spot risks and unblock teams.

  • Velocity & Quality: Accelerate delivery without compromising on testing, maintainability, or long-term stability.

  • Bridge Building: Act as the link between business stakeholders and engineering teams.

Must-Have Qualifications for Tech Scrum Lead / Project Manager role

  • Software Engineering Background: Former coder (Python, Java, or Node.js preferred).

  • Agile Leadership: Proven experience as a Technical Delivery Lead, Tech Lead, or Project Manager in iterative environments.

  • Cloud Knowledge: Solid understanding of cloud architecture and engineering practices; hands-on GCP strongly preferred.

  • Leadership Skills: Comfortable leading technical conversations, asking tough questions, and steering teams.

  • Problem-Solving: Skilled at identifying roadblocks and coaching teams toward resolution.

Nice to Have

  • Cloud-Native Practices: Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD, or cloud-native architectures.

  • Enterprise Experience: Exposure to large-scale GCP transformations, data platforms, or app modernization.

  • Certifications: Scrum or GCP certifications are helpful but not required — hands-on leadership is more valuable.

Work Model

  • Location: Hartford, CT (hybrid, locals only).

  • Duration: 6+ month contract, with extensions expected.

  • Citizenship: GC/USC preferred.

  • Start Date: ASAP.

Why This Role?

This is a chance to lead one of the most impactful data transformation initiatives in the region. Unlike a process-only Scrum Master, this position values your hands-on technical background and ability to bridge the gap between delivery and engineering excellence.
