Job Title: Validation Engineer
Location: Chandler, AZ (Onsite)
Experience: 2+ years
Employment Type: Contract

About the Validation Engineer Role in Chandler, AZ

Are you the kind of engineer who wants to know exactly how fast a system runs and why? This Validation Engineer role in Chandler, Arizona is built for people who enjoy measuring performance, finding bottlenecks and turning raw benchmark data into clear answers.

You will join an onsite engineering team that validates the performance of modern computing platforms. Your work will cover CPU, memory, storage, network, graphics, media and NPU performance on Linux-based server and client systems. The results you produce will help engineering teams make confident decisions about hardware and software quality before products reach customers.

This is a hands-on position for someone with at least two years of experience who is comfortable at the Linux command line and enjoys disciplined, repeatable testing.

Why This Validation Engineer Opportunity Stands Out

Performance validation sits at the heart of modern hardware development. In this role you will work across the full computing stack rather than in a single narrow area. One week you may run memory latency tests, and the next you may validate video encode throughput or measure NPU performance for AI workloads.

That variety builds deep and transferable skills. Engineers who understand benchmarking across CPU, GPU, storage, network and AI accelerators are in steady demand across the semiconductor and systems industry.

Key Responsibilities of the Validation Engineer

Linux Platform and Environment Management

  • Set up, configure and maintain Linux test systems in server and client environments

  • Manage packages, kernel settings and system configurations to create stable and repeatable test conditions

  • Monitor processes and system resources during test runs to make sure the results are accurate

  • Troubleshoot system issues, failed runs and unexpected performance behavior

CPU and Memory Performance Benchmarking

  • Run CPU benchmarks such as SPEC CPU, Geekbench and CoreMark

  • Execute memory bandwidth and latency tests using STREAM, lmbench and Memory Latency Checker (MLC)

  • Compare results across platforms, configurations and software versions

Storage and Network Performance Testing

  • Perform storage I/O benchmarking to measure throughput, latency and consistency

  • Conduct network throughput testing and help identify performance limits or regressions

Graphics, Media and NPU Performance Validation

  • Measure GPU compute performance using tools such as Intel Media SDK and OpenCL

  • Validate video encode and decode throughput across supported formats

  • Evaluate display pipeline performance

  • Run and analyze NPU performance tests for AI and machine learning workloads

Analysis, Documentation and Reporting

  • Record test procedures and configurations so that others can reproduce every result

  • Analyze benchmark data to spot trends, anomalies and regressions

  • Share clear findings with engineering teams and support root cause investigations

Required Skills for the Validation Engineer Position

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of the Linux operating system, including shell environments, process monitoring, performance tuning, package management and troubleshooting

  • Strong Linux command-line skills in both server and client environments

  • Hands-on experience running CPU, memory, storage or network benchmarks

  • Familiarity with graphics, media or GPU compute performance testing

  • Shell scripting ability to automate test runs and collect results

Experience Level

  • 2+ years of experience in validation, performance testing or systems engineering

  • A degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field is preferred

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Exposure to NPU or AI accelerator performance testing

  • Python scripting for automation and data analysis

  • Experience with performance profiling tools such as perf or top

Tools and Benchmarks Used in This Validation Engineer Role

You will work regularly with SPEC CPU, Geekbench, CoreMark, STREAM, lmbench, Memory Latency Checker, Intel Media SDK and OpenCL, along with standard Linux performance monitoring utilities. If you have used most of these, you will feel at home from day one. If a few are new to you, a strong Linux foundation will help you pick them up quickly.

Work Model and Location

This is a fully onsite role in Chandler, Arizona. Validation work depends on direct access to lab hardware and test systems, so regular in-person presence is required. Candidates who live in the Phoenix metro area or plan to relocate are encouraged to apply.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means delivering benchmark results that engineers can trust. You will keep tests consistent, catch regressions early and explain results in plain language. Strong performers here are curious, organized and patient with detailed, repeatable work.
