About the Principal Architect Role

Key Responsibilities of the Principal Architect

Enterprise Architecture Leadership

Lead enterprise architecture initiatives that support long term business objectives and digital transformation goals.

Develop architecture standards and governance frameworks that improve consistency across engineering teams.

Create technology roadmaps and evaluate emerging technologies for enterprise adoption.

Mentor architects, developers and technical leaders while promoting engineering excellence.


Azure Cloud Architecture

Design secure and scalable cloud native applications using Microsoft Azure.

Define best practices for scalability, resiliency, disaster recovery and operational excellence.

Partner with platform engineering teams to improve deployment automation, developer productivity and cloud governance.

Support Infrastructure as Code initiatives and modern DevOps practices.


API Architecture and Enterprise Integration

Design enterprise API ecosystems that are secure, scalable and highly available.

Define API governance standards including versioning, security, documentation and lifecycle management.

Lead integration strategies across internal platforms, SaaS applications, third party systems and enterprise services.

Promote reusable APIs and service oriented architecture across the organization.


Event Driven Architecture

Design asynchronous integration solutions using event driven architecture.

Implement messaging patterns using technologies such as Kafka, Azure Service Bus, Event Hubs or RabbitMQ.

Develop standards for event contracts, schema governance, retries, fault tolerance and dead letter processing.

Improve system scalability and resilience through loosely coupled architecture.


Domain Driven Design

Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand business domains and translate them into scalable software architecture.

Define bounded contexts, aggregates, domain events and domain services.

Support modernization initiatives by decomposing legacy applications into domain focused services.


AI and Intelligent Engineering

Drive the adoption of AI enabled software engineering practices.

Identify opportunities where artificial intelligence can improve developer productivity and business operations.

Support initiatives involving Large Language Models, Retrieval Augmented Generation, AI Agents and Azure AI Services.

Establish responsible AI governance while maintaining security and compliance standards.
